Does Earmark replace Groww, Coin, or Zerodha?

No. Earmark doesn't buy, sell, hold, or execute anything. It reads the mutual funds you already hold — wherever you actually bought them — and shows which goal each one is funding. Here's the specific line between what your broker does and what Earmark adds.

01

What a broker or app like Groww, Coin, or Zerodha does

Groww, Coin (Zerodha's mutual fund platform), Zerodha itself, and every other broker or investing app in India exist to execute transactions: they place your purchase and redemption orders with fund houses, hold the record of your folios against your account with them, run your SIP mandates, and handle the KYC and payment rails that make investing possible in the first place. That's the job, and it's not a job Earmark does or is trying to do.

If you want to start a new SIP, redeem units, switch between funds, or open a fresh folio, that happens through your broker or a direct fund-house platform — not through Earmark.

02

What Earmark actually does instead

Earmark doesn't connect to your broker account, and it doesn't need to. Instead, it reads your CAS — the consolidated statement issued by CAMS and KFintech that already lists every mutual fund you hold, regardless of which app or distributor you bought it through — and maps each holding to the financial goal you say it's funding. Retirement, a child's education, a house, an emergency fund — Earmark shows what's tracked to each one, and what isn't tracked to anything yet.

It's read-only and additive. Nothing about how your funds are held, who administers them, or how you'd go about buying or redeeming them changes because you used Earmark. It sits on top of whatever broker relationship you already have, not in place of it.

03

Why this distinction matters

A portfolio tracker that also executes trades has to solve custody, KYC, order routing, and regulatory registration as an investment adviser or broker — a much larger and different problem than showing you what your existing holdings are for. Earmark isn't a SEBI-registered investment adviser and doesn't recommend which funds to buy; see the Terms of Service for the specifics on what Earmark is, and isn't.

What that focus buys you is a tool that works no matter which broker, direct plan, or distributor each individual fund came through — because it's reading the one document that already sits above all of them. Switching brokers, or holding funds across three different apps, doesn't break anything on Earmark's side.
