Privacy Policy
Earmark reads your Consolidated Account Statement to understand what you already own — nothing more. This page explains, in full, what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.

Who we are
Earmark ("Earmark", "we", "us", "our") operates an explainable goal-planning platform for Indian mutual fund investors, currently available in private beta at this website and its associated application. This Privacy Policy applies to the website, waitlist, and any private-beta product features made available to invited users.
If you have questions about this policy or how your data is handled, contact us at privacy@earmark.in.
Information we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you provide so we can send you an invitation when your spot is ready.
If you're invited into the private beta, we collect the information needed to create and secure your account — such as your name, email address, and authentication details.
When you upload a CAS from CAMS or KFintech, we parse it to extract your mutual fund holdings — fund names, units, values, and folio-level detail — so Earmark can build your goals view. We do not ask for, and will never ask for, your broker login credentials.
Information you enter directly, such as the financial goals you define and any edits you make to the allocations Earmark proposes.
Standard technical data generated by using the site and app — IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and timestamps — used to keep the service reliable and secure.
How we use your information
- To build and maintain your goals view — mapping the investments you already own to the goals you define.
- To provide explainable reasoning for each allocation, and to let you review and edit it.
- To operate the waitlist and send cohort invitations as private beta access opens.
- To secure your account and detect fraud or abuse.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To improve the product — for example, understanding which parts of the CAS-parsing flow cause the most confusion.
We do not use your portfolio or CAS data to market other financial products to you, and we do not use it to make investment recommendations on behalf of any third party.
Data storage and retention
- Your original CAS PDF is used only for parsing and is discarded after processing — it is not retained on our servers.
- The derived portfolio data (fund holdings, values, goal allocations) is stored securely so you don't have to re-upload each time you visit.
- Account and application data is hosted with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us — see "Your rights" below.
How we share information
Your data is never sold. Not to distributors, not to research firms, not to anyone.
We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — infrastructure and processing partners who help us run Earmark, such as Supabase (database, authentication, storage) and our hosting provider, bound by their own security and confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements — if required to comply with a valid legal process, protect our rights, or prevent harm.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, with notice provided to affected users beforehand.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to understand how the site is used. Full detail on what we use and how to control it is in our Cookie Policy.
Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and least-privilege practices — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data protected and to disclose any incident that affects you promptly.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing, such as non-essential cookies.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@earmark.in. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe and in line with applicable law, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
Children's privacy
Earmark is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves, particularly as it moves from private beta towards public launch. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active users directly.
